FORMER Candaba town mayor Jerry Pelayo has denied issuing a statement that he "abandoned" gubernatorial candidate Jomar Hizon.

Pelayo rushed to the Annabelle's Restaurant in Metro Manila Friday, April 12, and clarified to officers and members of the Capampangan in Media, Incorporated (CAMI) that he never worked as campaign manager of Hizon.

The former mayor said he called up Board Member Rosve Henson and asked the latter to clarify the report.

Magmula nung nag-start siya never pa ako sumama (It was CAMI which was quoted, and that it was Rosve Henson whom CAMI talked to. I called Rosve a while ago and asked him to correct it because I never mentioned anything at CAMI. How could I abandon Jomar when I have nothing to do with his campaign? I have never been with his team since the start of the campaign) " Pelayo said.

He added that his statement in CAMI is clear: that he will vote for the gubernatorial candidate who will support his advocacies.

Among the advocacies Pelayo cited are the revival of the Ibon Ebon Festival, proper waste disposal, agricultural programs for farmers, and good fiscal management.

Pelayo said it is not in his character to abandon anybody. I never left GMA, you know that)."

Pelayo also assailed Henson's statement that he finally realized that he should support Vice-Governor Dennis Pineda.

Hindi yata si Jerry Pelayo yan (It’s ugly for me for them to say that I already abandoned and that I realized it that I went for Dennis Pineda. At my age I do not know whom to vote for? That is not Jerry Pelayo)," he said.
