Negrense pugs dominated boxing blow by blow

GUANZON Stable (GS) boxers outshadowed their rivals during the Boxing Blow by Blow Double Main Event at the Casino Ampi-theater, Pagcor Hotel, Goldenfields Commercial Complex in Bacolod City last Sunday.

Minimum weight Junjun “D’Tiger” Sabillo (11-0-0-4KO) won a convincing unanimous decision against Roel Honor of Agusan del Sur, while flyweight Art “El Matador” Villanueva battered Sherwin Manatad of Butuan City, a late replacement of Daryll Amuncio, to the body for a knockout in round seven both in a 10-round bout.

In the early rounds, Sabillo showed his dominant boxing skills against Honor, throwing a swift four-punch combination to the head and dodging counter punches with ease.

Though GS pugilist suffered a cut under his left eye due to an accidental head butt, he retaliated with accurate punches that caused two cuts under both eyes of Honor in the following rounds.

Villanueva, on the other hand, lived out to his moniker “El Matador”, as he controlled the fight against Manatad where he wanted it to be. He invested on body punches knocking Manatad in the early rounds and throwing a volume of punches that found its mark on the head.

GS manager Rev. Henry Guanzon was proud of his boys for executing what they were trained to do inside the ring despite a lone loss of Roy2x "D'Hammer" Sumugat. He was outclassed by Richard Bitos of Butuan City despite knocking him out in the first round.

"I am satisfied with my boxers’ performance against their opponents because they showed improvement and maintained good ethics in boxing," Rev. Guanzon said.

The following are results in the undercard: Featherweight - John2x “D’Hitman” Guanzon in a unanimous win against Juan Morano; super featherweight - Ryan “D’Pitbull” Sermona won a unanimous nod against Jomar Labiogo; flyweight - Rhay2x “D’Striker” Guanzon in a unanimous win against Roel Baquiano; super flyweight - Richard Bitos outclassed Roy2x “D’Hammer” Sumugat to a unanimous win; lightweight - Kevin “D’Great” Dela Cruz Kod Arnel Taganas; and super bantamweight - Jerry Nardo win unanimously against Rolly Llino in his debut fight.
