Magsayo stops foe in comeback

FORMER World Boxing Organization (WBO) No. 1 rated featherweight Mark Magsayo had a successful ring return after a fourth round knockout of Indonesian Erick Deztroyer last Friday, April 12, at The Ring Boxing Community in Singapore.

Magsayo, the ex-WBO International featherweight king, dropped Deztroyer with a bone-crunching left hook to the ribs. Deztroyer just sat on the corner, while the referee counted him out in the 2:00 mark of the fourth round.

The 23-year-old Magsayo remained unbeaten with a record of 19-0 with 14 knockouts, while Deztroyer dropped to 12-5-1 with three knockouts.

Magsayo had a long layoff due to a contractual dispute with ALA Promotions. He said that both his promotional and managerial contracts with ALA Promotions have already expired. However, ALA Promotions insisted that it was only Magsayo’s managerial contract that expired. EKA
