MEDELLIN turned back the home team Danao City, 90-88, in the 2019 Governor’s Cup Inter-Cities/Municipalities Basketball Tournament at the Danao City Civic Center on Saturday, April 13.
Fritz Saladaga and Luthek Gabriel Leonard carried the load for Medellin in the payoff period, conniving for the team’s 18 points. Saladaga poured in 12 of his 31 points, while Leonard chipped in six of his 15 in the fourth period.
Medellin put on a tear in the second quarter with 32 points to take a 52-38 lead at halftime after trailing in the first quarter, 23-20. Danao City closed the gap in the third quarter and was only down by three points, 72-69, at the start of the fourth quarter.
But Saladaga and Leonard did not let down in the final quarter as Medellin stayed perfect in the first two games of the playoffs.
