KENNON Road will be open to two way traffic for the duration of the Holy Week.

The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CRDRRMC) during a recent meeting with stakeholders advised the temporary two way opening of Kennon Road for the Holy Week to help ease the traffic with the expected influx of tourists.

In a meeting of Task Force Kennon Road, CDRRMC through a public advisory stated Kennon Road will be temporarily opened to tourists on a two - way scheme and for light vehicles (5 tons and below) only starting at 6pm of April 12 up to 6am of April 22.

The memorandum released by the task force advises motorists to always prioritize safety while driving and to keep their speed limit at 40kph.

The public are also advised to continuously monitor advisories and news updates, especially during occurrence of rains due to local thunderstorms, as in case of heavy rains, Kennon Road will be subjected to closure upon the recommendation of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Cordillera and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tuba Benguet.

It added should Kennon Road be closed due to continuous rains in Baguio City, motorists are adviced to pass by the alternate route of Marcos Highway, Naguilian Road or the Asin-Nangalisan road.

The temporary opening of Kennon Road is a decision of the CRDRRMC joint inter - agency Task Group Kennon Road after a thorough consensus and road inspection and upon the recommendation of LGU Tuba.
