Bishop Buzon lenten message: ‘Instruct me in your ways, O Lord’

MOST Reverend Patricio Buzon, D.D., Bishop of Bacolod, in his Holy Week message, echoed a verse in Psalm 86:11, which states, "Instruct me in your ways, O Lord."

"As our Lenten observance draws towards its climax, with our entering into the Holy Week, we keep close to Jesus, our Teacher, our Master, our Rabbi. The life of Jesus was a life of instruction and this Holy Week, we are invited, to precisely realize that, Jesus, as a good Teacher, left us his story as an instructive memory. This memory of faith is to be understood, keep alive and shared by his disciples so that it will continue to teach peoples of all ages. As Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI once said, "Only when faith is understood can it be passed on to others."

He further said, "as we accompany Jesus to the Cross, let us not forget that He is the same Jesus who taught us that we also have to take up our crosses daily and follow him (Luke 9:23). As disciples, we have no other way. The way of discipleship is no other than the Via Crucis. There are no shortcuts. And so, let these words of St. Paul accompany us this Holy Week, "I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who lives, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh Iive by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me (Galatians 2:20).

Bishop Buzon is wishing everyone a meaningful Holy Week and God bless.

Moreover, Bishop Buzon officiated the early morning mass at the San Sebastian Cathedral on Palm or Passion Sunday.

Christians and Catholics gathered at the public plaza for the first blessing of the Palm crosses as the symbol of welcoming the Lord Jesus Christ in his entry to the Holy City of Jerusalem. (CNC)
