BRIGADIER General Benedict Arevalo, Commander of the 303rd Infantry Brigade (303IB) of the Philippine Army based in Barangay Minoyan, Murcia said that no additional criminal charges yet has been filed against arrested National Democratic Front (NDF) spokesperson, Ka Frank Fernandez.
According to Arevalo, Fernandez along with his wife Cleofe, had already been arraigned for charges of murder and he explained they are now waiting for the legal process on the matter.
Arevalo emphasized that their current objective with Fernandez is to maintain his health.
The 303IB commander said although they have yet to receive any additional complaints against Fernandez, he believes the murder charges are already enough.
He also stated it is still possible to file additional charges against the rebel leader, and he believes the reason why no one has yet to surface and file raps against Fernandez because most of his criminal activities were made 30 years ago.
"We can only encourage the victims of the New People's Army (NPA)] to surface and file charges against him," Arevalo added.
The general had earlier urged the victims of the NPA's atrocities in Negros to surface and file additional charges against the NDF spokesperson.
Arevalo said a lot of innocent people were killed because of Fernandez, adding that he is not only an NDF spokesperson but also a leader of the NPA in Negros Island.
“He is the one who directly gave orders to the rebel combatants as to what they would attack and who they will ambush,” Arevalo said.
