DPWH allots P20-M drainage project along circumferential road

THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) allocated P20 million for the construction of new drainage project along Circumferential to Lupit River in Bacolod City this year.

Engineer Ferdinand Magada, chief of Construction Section of DPWH, said that once this project will be awarded to the contractor, they can start the implementation of the project.

“This will be a 500 meters drainage in the Circumferential Road from PanAsiatic to Lupit River,” he said.

It has been observed that during rainy days, floods occurred in the area of Circumferential Road.

Magada explained that because of the business development in the area, the existing drainage could not cope with the inflow of water.

“We will construct a new drainage and we will not remove the existing drainage like what we did in Lacson Street,” Magada said.

Last week, some netizens posted on social media the floods occurred at Circumferential Road and Lacson Streets.

In Lacson Street, floods occurred because of the clogged inlets.

Meanwhile, the DPWH will also construct additional drainage worth P10 million along Magsaysay flyover to Magsungay River this year.
