PNP: 15 dead nationwide since April 5

THE Philippine National Police (PNP) has recorded a total of 23 incidents with 15 deaths nationwide since the beginning of the summer vacation this year.

In a press conference Monday, April 15, PNP Chief Oscar Albayalde said from April 5 to 6 a.m. of April 14, 23 incidents, that include drowning, vehicular accidents, theft, physical injury, act of lasciviousness, shooting and robbery, have been recorded.

He said 13 people were injured, while 15 were killed.

He also said Monday that 91,201 police personnel were deployed nationwide for route security, target hardening and security operations to ensure the peace and order and security of the public, particularly in places of convergence such as churches, malls, vacation destinations and transportation hubs.

“Sa ngayon, we are on heightened alert. Binigay namin doon sa mga different regions kung ano ang appreciation nila within their area of responsibility to increase of level ‘yung kanilang alert status into full alert status but most probably by Wednesday, we will be going for a full alert status, especially doon sa mga regions na pinupuntahan ng ating mga kababayan for vacation and worship,” he said.

Albayalde said they have yet to monitor possible threats this summer, particularly during the Holy Week break.
