Pepito, Adlawan rule Calambua Motocross Cup

MOTOCROSS riders Bj Pepito and Jonjon Adlawan showed their class in the 21st Calambua Motocross Cup presented by MS MotoSuit in Brgy. Calambua in San Remigio, northern Cebu last Sunday, April 14.

Pepito, a native of Daanbantayan, Cebu, maneuvered the technical terrain with craftiness and speed to rule the expert category.

The 17-year-old Pepito, once honored as “Rider of the Year” of the now defunct MS Motosuit Motocross Series, crossed the finish line ahead of Jonjon Adlawan while the veteran Denmark Supatan settled for third place.

The Team BP8 ace rider, however, missed a double championship after Adlawan turned the tables on him in the pro open class. Adlawan took first place, while Pepito settled for second place and Supatan got another third place finish.

Pepito actually led in the first five laps but the 27-year-old Adlawan used his experience to overtake the much younger Pepito and eventually seize control in the pro open.

It was a double celebration for Adlawan as his father, Jonas, came out the fastest in Executive A. The champion in the Executive B was Arnel Enriquez and Rex Gamallo in the Executive C.

The likes of Earljun Codiñera, Brylle Ornopia, John Hisoler, and Rio Mahinay also made their presence felt.

Codiñera bagged twin titles from the intermediate and novice open, Ornopia topped the beginners, Hisoler conquered the local enduro, and Mahinay snared the open enduro title.

Rajah Garin topped the mini class 85cc, Lhaz Nadela was the top performer in the mini class 50cc, Sharlet Gallarde came out on top in the ladies class, Eric Gabuya ruled the underbone race, and Rey Pepito won the buggy class to complete the winners’ list. (RSC)
