ABOITIZ-LED Apo Agua Infrastructura, Inc. assured that they will be able to supply around 85 percent of the city's water demand with the completion of its P12.6-billion bulk water supply project.

The Davao City Water District (DCWD) reported that the city has a total water demand of 224,247 cubic meters, or 300 million to 347 million liters, per day and the demand is expected to increase in 2021.

“Once the Apo Agua bulk water supply system will be operational, the DCWD will be mainly getting the source from our project,” Apo Agua representative Ones Almario said Monday, April 15, during SM City’s Kapehan media forum.

Tamugan River will be the source of the Apo Agua bulk water supply project.

“We are designing the facility in the best way we can in terms of the data that we got from the DCWD and our regular raw water quality monitoring,” Almario said.

He added that they are ensuring the protection of the watershed where the water source will be coming. This is to ensure that the water supply will remain safe and potable for the consumers.

DCWD spokesperson Lawyer Bernardo Delima said they will strictly require the Apo Agua to supply the city with water that has complied with the quality specifications.

“The water that they will be supplying will always be in compliance with the Philippine national standard for drinking water,” he said.

“If they will not comply with it then it will be their loss kay di mana namo dawaton (because we will not accept it),” he added.
