Babysitter arrested for kidnapping 1-year-old boy

A 19-YEAR-OLD babysitter was arrested at Miag-ao town in Iloilo province Tuesday, April 16 for allegedly kidnapping a one-year-old boy from Bacolod City, whose name was withheld.

Police Major Sherlock Gabana, head of Police Station 7, identified the suspect as Airesh Martir of Barangay Mandalagan, this city.

Gabana said the victim’s parents reported to the police on April 15 that their son was missing and his babysitter did not go home.

The parents left their son to Martir while they’re at work.

Policemen were able to trace the location of the child through Martir’s Facebook account, where she posted some photos of them in Iloilo.

The following day, Martir was arrested by personnel of Miag-ao Municipal Police Station at the residence of her boyfriend in Barangay Malagyan, where they also rescued the child.

The child was unharmed.

Gabana said Martir allegedly took the child without the consent of his employers to reportedly introduce him to the parents of her boyfriend as their son.

Her boyfriend is working in Metro Manila.

Gabana said kidnapping charges will be filed against Martir, whose been working in the family for three weeks now.

He said Martir’s boyfriend will not be included in the case because he was even allegedly deceived by the suspect.

The police official said Martir was transported from Iloilo to Bacolod yesterday and will be placed under the custody of Police Station 7.
