10 Ceres buses suspended

THE Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB)-Western Visayas suspended ten units of Ceres buses of Vallacar Transit, Inc. plying the Ma-ao Bacolod route following the accident that caused the death of a passenger and wounding of 40 others.

Richard Osmena, LTFRB regional director, confirmed on Tuesday, April 16, the suspension.

“But the VTI could apply for special permit for their buses,” he said.

He also reminded the drivers especially this Holy Week to strictly observe safety measures like checking their vehicle especially the breaks before plying. “Most of all the drivers should avoid over-speeding,” he said.

He also urges the passengers to take photos and report to his office about over-speeding drivers.

A woman died while 40 others were injured after a Ceres Liner bus fell on its side at Purok Kapayas, Barangay Pacol, Bago City, Negros Occidental Monday, April 15.

Police Captain Reynaldo Severino, deputy city police chief, identified the fatality as Ana May Declaro, 28, of Barangay Maao.

VTI through its media relations officer Jade Seballos Marquez said that the company welcomes the suspension which is standard operating procedure of the LTFRB on transport companies whenever their units are involved in accidents.
