Zamboanga City issues permits for home-based business

THE local government is issuing special mayor’s permit to home-based businesses such as sari-sari stores and the like.

Benjie Barredo, Business Permits and Licensing Division chief, said it in line with the city’s thrust to promote the ease of doing business in Zamboanga City as well as to integrate informal sector into mainstream economy.

Barredo said the issuance of special permit is supported by Executive Order BC-4621 issued by Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar. The E.O. took effect March 8, 2019.

He said that E.O. BC-461 prescribes requirements for the issuance of a special mayor’s permit for home-based businesses such as sari-sari stores, tailoring, home baking, office space for wholesalers, online retail business, on-line ticketing, home tutorials baking and the like.

He said the requirements for new special business permit registration includes certification of registration from any of the following: Department of Trade and Industry-for single proprietorship, Securities and Exchange Commission for corporations and or Cooperative Development Authority for cooperatives; business capitalization; a proof of ownership or authority from the owner of the property and picture of the establishment; barangay clearance for business purposes and one 2x2 photo of the owner or manager.
