MANY will be having a long weekend this Holy Week.

For a majority of us, we will be spending time with our families. Some of you may be having a reunion too.

The Holy Week serves as a great time to bond with family members who we have not seen for the past few months.

We hope that each one who is going home to their hometowns will have a meaningful time with their families.

This also serves as a good time to try and reconcile broken relationships with family members. We could extend forgiveness to someone or ask forgiveness from someone.

Ephesians 4:31-32 says “Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”

Easier said than done. It would take a leap of faith and a lot of courage when it comes to forgiving or asking forgiveness. But by doing so, we are able to release ourselves from bitterness, rage, and anger.

Aside from spending time with our family, this is also a good time for us to reflect on the blessings that we had in the past months.

For the faithfuls, we could use this long vacation to pray for the country. It is a reality that we are experiencing a lot of things right now, both the good and the bad. Let’s pray for the government that it will pull itself together. Let us pray for a clean and honest 2019 Midterm Elections where only those who deserve to lead us will be elected. Let us pray for our leaders that they will start serving the country and not themselves.

2 Chronicles 7:14 says, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

Let us also not forget to pray for our family, friends, and ourselves.

We would also like to thank everyone who will be working during the long weekend to continue to serve the Filipinos. Whether it is the nurses, police, soldiers, doctors on call, security, the hotel staff, airplane crew, and fast food chain staff, among others, thank you. We hope our politicians could be the same too -- serving the Filipino people.

During the long weekend, use it wisely to develop better relationships with our family and friends. It is also a great time to reflect on the good things happening to us and pray for the country and those we love.
