Gov’s Cup resumes in Balamban

BALAMBAN ShipBuilders and Medellin will look to get the solo second spot in the Bracket B team standings when the 2019 Governor’s Cup Inter-Cities/Municipalities Basketball Tournament resumes on Monday, April 22.

Balamban is eyeing its third win against visiting Samboan at the Balamban Municipal Gym, following the morale-boosting 96-91 win over Argao before the Holy Week break.

Samboan has others thing in mind as it hopes to steal a game to stay in the mix of things in the quarterfinals of the tournament organized by the Cebu Provincial Sports Commission for grassroots players aged 21 and below.

Balamban holds a 2-1 (win-loss) card while Samboan has 1-2 card.

Medellin will look to bounce back against Argao after losing to perennial contender Mandaue City in the other game. Medellin holds a 2-1 card while Argao has a 1-1 record.

The other Bracket B action will feature Dumanjug and Danao City.

In the Bracket A action, defending champion Talisay City Aquastars and Tuburan will put its spotless record on the line when they collide with separate foes at the Alegria Municipal Gym.

Talisay City (2-0) will play Minglanilla Archangels (2-1), while Tuburan (2-1) battles the winless Sogod (0-3).

Meanwhile, Alegria (0-2) will try to win its first game in the second round when it faces Tabuelan in home court.

Alegria fell short to Consolacion, 77-67, during its first game in the second round. Alegria dropped its next game against Tabuelan, 98-75. dRSC
