A taste of Indonesia in Cebu

A taste of Indonesia in Cebu

SOON locals will get a taste of this vibrant country as Atienza brings her second home to Cebu City through an exhibit called “Market & Museum,” together with fellow curator of art, Cristina Skrobanek, to be held at 32 Sanson by Rockwell located at Sanson Road, Cebu City.

In partnership with Java Pavilion and Sarina Collection, the exhibit will showcase a diverse and high value selection of all things Indonesian from paintings, stone sculptures, centuries-old wood, crystals and Indonesia’s traditional fabric called batik, shown in different designs, colors and patterns—all of which are curated in Balinese market village-like fashion.

Having exhibited in different parts of the world, including Singapore and Malaysia, for at least 30 years with mostly antiques and paintings, Atienza shared that this will be the first time that they will be including fashion to the exhibition. That said, the four-day exhibit will open with a fashion show to be held at the property’s clubhouse. The show promises to showcase a selection of ensembles from rompers to kaftans paired with accessories like bags and jewelry. These items will surely be a welcome addition to one’s summer wardrobe collection.

With that in mind, here’s a quick guide on choosing your summer-themed picks to pull off that effortless sun-kissed look all throughout the season:

Keep it light

Opt for fabrics that not only translate “sun and fun” but are also climate friendly. Stick to breathable fabrics that give off that comfort and effortless vibe without having to try too hard. Do away with layering and stick to the basics.

Experiment

By sticking to the basics, it doesn’t mean to necessarily play it safe. The wonderful thing about fashion is the freedom to mix and match. Don’t be afraid with patterns and colors clashing. If there’s an item that’s making a statement on its own, grab the first thing that somehow matches and complements it which solidifies the look. The idea is to make a statement and avoid looking out of order.

Always stock up on basic clothing items to match with fun and one-of-a-kind pieces.

Accessorize

Never underestimate the power of accessorizing as this could make or break the outfit. This is where “less is more” applies. But it also doesn’t hurt to have a statement piece you can whip out from your closet. Be on the lookout for pieces that can be worn all-year round as well as those that can add an instant spark to an ensemble.

Discover summer finds at “Market and Museum” from April 25 to 28, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibit will be at 32 Sanson’s sales office.
