Shooting suspect nabbed in La Union

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union -- Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) Director Constante Azares Jr. commended Alcala police unit for the immediate solution of a shooting incident that transpired at this town recently.

As a result, a case of frustrated murder was filed against the suspect identified as Warlito Mabual alias Cato.

Azares said the incident transpired evening of February 19 at Barangay Vancante in Alcala, Pangasinan.

Accordingly, victim Anselmo Lorenzo and his friends were having a drinking spree at his residence when about 11 p.m. three persons riding on a motorcycle arrived.

One of the three riders shot Lorenzo twice with the use of an unknown long firearm.

The motorcycle-riding suspects fled immediately after the incident, bringing with them the firearm used.

A witness, however, identified Mabual as the triggerman who shot the victim.

The Alcala police led by Police Chief Juanito Abalos, SPO4 Romeo Manzano, and SPO1 Ricardo Pedrozo immediately tracked Mabual and invited him for questioning.

Mabual was charged before the Pangasinan Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.
