Aguelo vs. Betos in Looc boxing show

VETERAN Adones Aguelo, Melmark Dignos and Japanese prospect Toushin Battulga headline “Bakbakan sa Looc” boxing show on April 27 at the Cabahug Gym in Looc, Mandaue City.

Aguelo faces off with former interim World Boxing Council (WBC) Asian Boxing Council super bantamweight champion Richard Betos for a third time in a six rounder.

The 30-year-old Aguelo looks to bounce back from back-to-back defeats in the hands of Vage Sarukhanyan and Lingjie Xia with another win over Betos.

Aguelo won both meetings with Betos, a third round knockout in 2015 and a fourth round stoppage the following year.

Since winning a regional title in 2012, the 32-year-old Betos is on a long slump, going 1-18-1. He’s fresh from a third round stoppage against returning James Bacon last Feb. 13.

Aguelo is 30-19-2 with 20 knockouts, while Betos is 20-23-2 with seven knockouts.

Dignos (8-3), on the other hand, slugs it out with battle-worn veteran Rogen Flores (14-45-6, 7 Kos) in another six-rounder.

Dignos wants to return to the winning column after a split decision defeat against Zafier Parpiev in his latest fight last Oct. 28 in Russia. Flores has not won since 2015 and has lost his last 18 contests.

Battulga takes on newcomer Roldan Quimpan in a four-round fight.

Battulga is a Japanese fighter based in Cebu. He won both of his fights in the Philippines against Dandy Payla and Christian Bagayeron.

Quimpan is making his pro debut.

In the undercard, Michael Adolfo faces off with Angelo Samson, while Kier Torregosa locks horns with Ryan Galas.

There will also be five amateur fights. (EKA)
