Oro turns over P5.1-M water system to Lumad community

THE City Government of Cagayan de Oro and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) inaugurated and turned over last week a water supply system project to the indigenous people (IPs) of Sitio Lirupan in Barangay Pagalungan.

The Indigenous People Cultural and Community Water System project costs P5.1 million and is set to benefit 586 households or 2,463 residents of Sitio Lirupan.

The IPs in the area have expressed their gratitude to the City Government and DSWD as their calls for water supply in the community were finally answered.

“Mahimo man diay nga posible ang proyekto pinaagi sa walay puas nga pag-abag sa Moreno administration (it's possible that a project can be achievable through the help of the administration of Mayor Oscar Moreno),” said village chief Rene Oporto.

Moreno, in his message, said that apart from the water system, he will continue to help the IPs of Barangay Pagalungan through other programs.

Moreno, Councilor Annie Daba, and representatives from different offices of City Hall graced the turnover ceremony.
