Happy Easter to one and all! People

Eve

IT HAS been more than three decades since Maria Paz “Chuquit” Neri left for the Big Apple. The years just flew because she moved in the “fast lane.” She made the most of her two-week visit by going places—Cebu, where she was feted by former classmates in St. Theresa’s College, friends and relatives; Davao, for the wedding of grandnephew architect Arturo Ravelo III to architect Shem Pafin; Cagayan de Oro, to catch up with cousins and childhood friends; and Camiguin, for a sentimental journey to the place where the Neris have their roots. She is back in New York where only son Chuck welcomed her with open arms.

Also here for a quick visit was Teresita “Tita” Franco Juete who flew all the way from Spain to link up with family and friends. Invitations to dinners and lunches were countless. One lovely dinner was held at the Fernan home up Nivel Hills with the gracious Elo Fernan playing host. She organized a reunion of the group who were dinner guests of Tita at her beautiful home in Madrid last year.

Edmonton, Canada has been home to retired travel specialist Cecile Sa-a for some years now but she has decided to come for an extended visit (a year or so) to the dear old hometown. Travel industry friends Zenaida Chua of Worldwide Travel and Malou Avila of Amadeus lost no time in catching up with her over lunch at Phat Pho in Ayala Center Cebu.

And speaking of travel personalities, Nelson and Angelita “Baby” Dy of Grand Hope Travel were the top awardees during the “World of Winners Awards” of Resorts World Manila. Yes, Cebu’s Grand Hope Travel is the top producer of the Resorts World complex. No less than Resorts World Manila president Kingson Sian handed over the certificate of recognition to the dynamic couple.

Birthdays

Aida Uy welcomed friends and colleagues into her office at Plaza Nouvelle when they trooped there to greet her on her birthday. It was indeed a festive day at the Cebu Fortune Travel office.

Meanwhile, Mayen Angbetic Tan was honoree at a surprise party at The Glass House of Montebello Villa Hotel on her birthday. Loving sons Irving and Allen, together with their repective spouses Maritess and Jen, came up with a celebration to remember. The grandchildren were very much part of the program for dear Grandma.

Ben Miranda had a family get-together when he notched another year. Devoted wife Marian was on top of the intimate birthday happening.

Elizabeth Gan Go was the superstar of the gathering at the hilltop home of Mariquita Yeung on the day she turned a year more accomplished. It was her birthday and her close friends were all there to give their wellwishes.
