THE Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) announced that special permits for out-of-line operators will be given to Mintal operators of public utility jeepneys (PUJs) during the duration of the 2019 Palarong Pambansa.
In a recent circular, LTFRB had authorized all PUJ routes from "Mintal to Roxas Avenue and vice versa" to operate in the line of Roxas Avenue to Davao City University of the Philippines (UP) Sports Complex and vice versa from April 27 to May 4.
This came after City Administrator Zuleika Lopez requested the agency to grant their request that would allow Mintal PUJs to enter the sports complex, wherein most games will be conducted.
LTFRB authorized an additional fare from Mintal Highway to the Davao City-UP Sports Complex. For regular passengers, it will be of P6 while P5 for persons with disability (PWD), senior citizens, and students.
LTFRB-Davao OIC Regional Director Cattleya Acaylar reminded drivers to strictly comply with the special fare rate.
"We also remind them to provide safe and comfortable transportation to all commuters. Also we are reminding the drivers and conductors to observe courtesy and respect in dealing with their passengers," Acaylar said.
She also encouraged passengers to immediately report overcharging and erring PUJ drivers to their office for immediate action.
The opening of the Palarong Pambansa will be on Saturday, April 27, wherein more than 20,000 delegates from the entire country will be attending the sports competition.
