P231,500 worth of 'shabu' seized

AN ESTIMATED P231,500 worth of substance believed to be shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) were seized in separate drug busts in Negros Occidental in the past two days.

On April 23, Erwin Pepino and Elias Pepino were arrested in Barangay Vista Alegre, Bacolod City after they allegedly yielded nine sachets of "shabu" weighing 10 grams worth P125,000, the P500 marked money, and drug paraphernalia.

In a separate operation, Rano Apurong, 33, of Barangay 8, Bacolod City, a newly-identified drug personality, was arrested Tuesday, April 23, after he was allegedly caught in the act holding a sachet of "shabu" worth P12,000.

On April 22, Dominick Ortilla, 21, of Barangay Mambulac, Silay City, was arrested in Barangay 5 after police seized from him six sachets of "shabu" worth P90,000, two cellular phones, lighter, pouch, a live ammunition of .40 caliber, P3,030 in cash, and P4,500 marked money.

In Talisay City, Angelo Martinez, 27, and Hector Deximo Jr., 28, both residents of Barangay Zone 3, were arrested. Recovered from them were five sachets of "shabu" worth P4,500, the P300 marked money, P700 in cash, a pair of scissors, two lighters, straw, an improvised tooter, and a sling bag.
