THE lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community in Cebu was saddened by the death of its member, whose body was found in Sitio Babag 2 in Barangay Babag, Cebu City.

The body of Raymond Mabini, 25, also known as Rica Reyes, was found on Tuesday morning, April 23.

He was a senior high school student of the Cebu Technological University in Babag, a mountain barangay in the north district.

Mabini was a leader of the LGBT group in Babag and was an active member of Cebu City’s LGBT community.

Police Staff Sergeant Mark Daclan, investigator of the Mabolo police station, said they would determine if there was foul play involved in Mabini’s death.

Mabini was found in a ravine where some residents often defecate.

Police believe the student fell into the ravine after they found wounds on his head and other parts of his body.

Daclan said someone may have pulled a prank on Mabini, resulting in his fall.

The crime scene personnel noticed that the student’s shorts and underwear were below his waist.

Based on the initial interview of the police investigators with the residents and Mabini’s relatives, they did not hear any person cry for help on Monday night, April 22, during a power outage.

Daclan said he is waiting for the autopsy result before he can conclude that Mabini was a murder victim.

“Nagpaabot pa mi sa autopsy kay basin natagak lang ni or unsa ba, or basin gituyo og gibinoangan ni ang biktima maong na slide siya didto (We’re waiting for the autopsy result because it’s possible that he just fell into the ravine, or maybe it was intentional or somebody was playing a prank on him, causing him to fall),” said Daclan.

On his Facebook account, friends posted messages demanding justice for his death.

Daclan urged witnesses to approach barangay officials or the police to shed light on the student’s death. (From AYB of SuperBalita Cebu, KAL)
