AT LEAST P19 million worth of vegetables purchased at the La Trinidad Vegetable Trading Post were unpaid.

Nora Ganase, president of League of Associations at La Trinidad Vegetable Trading Area Inc., wrote to local officials of La Trinidad, Benguet, saying that for the past month, they have been collating the unpaid purchases made by buyers from different key markets in the country.

"To date, our total amounts to P19 million from 64 individuals. Submission of lists unpaid purchases is still going on," Ganase said Monday, April 22.

The league wrote to the Municipal Government, asking it to intervene and set a meeting with the association, as they plan to invite delinquent buyers to a dialogue to pave for the signing of promissory notes or payment of their accumulated debts.

In a phone interview, Ganase said they are set to meet with the delinquent buyers next month to tackle the matter.

She said most of the unpaid purchases were made by buyers from Batangas and Manila.

The league also reiterated its request for the government to accredit buyers purchasing highland vegetables to minimize the occurrence of the problem.
