Police: No lead yet on burned body found in Mabalacat

MABALACAT CITY -- Police has no lead yet regarding the case of the burned body found in a farmland in Barangay Bical here last Monday, April 22.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Maharlika Oscar Villasis, chief of police of this city, said they requested for a dental examination from the Philippine National Police (PNP) Crime Laboratory to establish the identity of the victim.

"We are still waiting for the result from the crime lab," Villasis said.

He said they have coordinated the incident with police stations in the entire province.

"So far, wala pa naman nagke-claim [sa body]," he said.

Residents in Barangay Bical found at dawn Monday, April 22, a man's body burned beyond recognition in an open farmland.

Mayor Crisostomo Garbo, who is residing in the village, said local authorities have already coordinated with the residents and learned that no one was missing among their family members.

Garbo said the victim may have been killed somewhere else and dumped in the area before the suspects burned it.

"I don't think it is election-related and that the victim is a resident of Bical. But we are still awaiting the result of the police investigation," he said in the vernacular.

Several residents posted in their respective Facebook accounts the body, which was still smoking when discovered.

Barangay Bical is situated at the Southeastern side of Mabalacat City near the boundary of Mexico and Magalang towns.

Villasis, meanwhile, said there were no major destructions or damages within the city during the 6.1-magnitude tremor.

"Yung nasira yung sa mga grocery lang. At yung transformer sa Barangay San Francisco nalaglag pero naayos naman kaagad," he said.
