Employment set for displaced Chuzon workers

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Displaced workers of the quake-collapsed Chuzon Supermarket in Porac town will be re-employed by the government, the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) assured.

Dole-Central Luzon Director Ma. Zenaida Angara-Campita, during her situation briefing with President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday afternoon, April 23, said the agency has already profiled about 105 employees in the Porac branch of the grocery store.

"We have profiled 105 workers of Chuzon and we are very confident that they will be absorbed by the local government. We have a job fair on May 1 and ifa-facilitate po namin agad ang kanilang re-employment," Angara-Campita said.

For those who will not be employed under the government, particularly

those who sustained major injuries, Angara-Campita said the agency will provide livelihood assistance to ensure that they can have a source of income.

As of Wednesday noon, April 24, the casualties recorded at the Chuzon Supermarket tragic incident reached 5, including a one-year-old and seven-year-old kids.

Governor Lilia Pineda, in a separate interview, said the Provincial Government is yet to identify the actual number of employees of Chuzon Supermarket in Porac, as well as the other branches in Pampanga that were ordered closed.
