Singcang-Airport fire victims need more assistance

FIRE victims in Barangay Singcang-Airport are asking for more assistance to sustain their daily needs, an official of the Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD).

DSSD head Pacita Tero said yesterday a total of 48 families with a total of 243 individuals from Purok Mars and Purok Kabulakan Dos of said village need foods, clothes, beddings, kitchen wares and pillows.

On Tuesday afternoon, April 22, a fire hit 10 houses at Purok Mars and on April 22, a fire also hit 30 houses in Purok Kabulakan Dos.

Tero said the fire victims are temporarily staying at their neighbors, relatives and at the villagefs chapel.

gThey really need our help especially foods and clothing,h she said.

The city government already turned over food assistance through the Philippine Red Cross, but itfs not enough to sustain their daily needs.

Tero noted the fire victims will also receive cash assistance from the city government, but it will be distributed after the election ban.

Those whose houses were destroyed will receive P10, 000 each while those with damaged houses will receive P5,000.

The DSSD is accepting donations at the Bacolod Government Center and at the villagefs chapel.

Tero added that the assistance will be distributed by the Philippine Red Cross and not by the city officials because of the election campaign.
