HE IS making a legacy in sports and education.

This is how people close to businessman Jose “Boy” Montalbo said about his JGM Dreams Foundation, Inc. that continuously accepts athlete scholars especially those from public schools.

“I love sports. That’s how I spend and dedicate my life now,” Montalbo, who owns a chain of lending business all over the country, said.

The scholarship program has been existing for four years now and has already produced champions in different sports disciplines like volleyball, track and field, gymnastics and basketball.

This school year, the foundation has 62 scholars and is accepting more, this time not only athlete scholars but academic scholars as well.

The athlete scholars, aside from free education and training at Tay Tung High School, also enjoy free dormitory as well as school and sports uniforms.

“Like several athletes who are now varsity players in big colleges and universities in Manila, I want other scholars to reach their goals too. I will be happy to see them succeed in the field that they choose. That’s my satisfaction of helping them,” Montalbo said.

Montalbo who has been in charge of the sports programs of Bacolod Tay Tung High School said he tied up with the school, put his scholars in and provided some sports facilities too in the school. The school has garnered several championship medals in different sports competitions especially in the Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural and Educational Association.

“The intention is that when I’m gone, our community service will continue through the athletes. I love sports and it has already become part of my life. It is my way of helping the athletes pursue their abilities,” Montalbo added.
