HINOBA-AN marks its 60th founding anniversary and 19th Pagbana-ag Huba-Huba Festival, April 24 to 29, 2019.

Mayor Ernesto Estrao led the opening of the festival held at the people’s beach also called Bantay Dagat beach front in Barangay 1 as they lighted sky lanterns and released each to the sky to signal their renewal of hope geared towards a bigger and better Hinoba-an.

After the symbolic release of the sky lanterns that looked like Himalayan salt flying in the sky, they held Zumba sa Bantay Dagat led by zumba celebrities and Hinoba-an group where everyone around sweat out dancing in a celebration.

Hinoba-an is known as one of the best tourist destinations in the Province of Negros Occidental. It is 200 kilometers away from Bacolod City. It has registered the highest number of domestic and foreign tourists especially during summer season.

Hinoba-an possesses the wealth of natural resources such as beautiful beaches and green forest.

Estrao said April 24 is the significant day for Hinoba-an as this is the 60th birthday of the town.

“I want to thank God, our founders, past leaders and the people of Hinoba-an for all your support in making Hinoba-an of what it is today. In terms of tourism, we continue to improve our tourism industry in our town,” he said.

Pagbana-ag means hope and this hope will continue to bring Hinoba-an to a better state.

“Hand in hand, we fought the challenges that made it where we are right now - a progressive and booming municipality ready to face the competitive world. It is not an easy job, but at the end of the day, we see the fruits of our labor given all the struggles and hardship,” he said.

He added, “As they celebrate its 60th founding anniversary, we cannot help but look back with gratitude to our founders while looking positively forward that the coming years will be as fruitful and memorable for our children. My only wish is for us to stand united amidst the challenges we are facing. We had gone this far. Surely, we can go further and prove that we are not just a group of people but a community united under one common aspiration, Estrao said.

An agro-aqua trade fair is held in front of the town hall where they sell products from the mountains and the seas.
