Vicente: 5TH Philippine Martial Arts Hall of Fame 2019

THE coveted award giving body for Filipino Martial Arts is set to unroll again this year.

Now on its 5th staging, this occasion held every two years is a non-government entity that advocates in recognizing the significant people, works and or contributions of people to the Filipino Martial Arts and its community.

According to Executive Director Mizha Nicolas De Guzman, heir of Garitony Nicolas who founded the Philippine Martial Arts Hall of Fame, “this 5th PMAHOF is a challenge as we are doing it without its creator who passed away almost two years ago just right after the culmination of the 4th PMAHOF, the PMAHOF board, officers and advisers have put a lot of work just to continue the legacy of my father. Many thought the 4th PMAHOF was the last one since my father have passed away but we owe it to the foundation he has built and the credibility that this PMAHOF have developed and now here we are ready to commence with the 5th PMAHOF.

The 5th PMAHOF starts on the 27th and 28th with an International Martial Arts tournament to be held in San Andres Sports Complex in Malate Manila, followed by the Gala Night on the 29th at the Casa Ibarra, MOA Complex, Pasay City and an International Filipino Martial Arts Masters Seminar Workshop on the 30th to be held at the MMDA Arena, Makati City.

Baguio City’s very own Team Lakay warriors are among those who will be inducted in this years’ PMAHOF, inducted to the “Distinguished Filipino Warriors – Sinag Tala Award are Marquez Sangiao, Eduard Folayang, Joshua Pacio, Geje Eustaquio, Kevin Belingon, and Gina Iniong.

Other awardees from the City of Baguio are some of the prominent Arnisadors who are inducted to these years “FMA Dangal ng Lahi – Pag-asa ng Sining Award: Al bon Likigan, Manly Bayona, Engr. Ryann Carlo Macadaeg, Danica Caw-is, Angela Donglay, Lira Acachang, Jana Kaye Balicdang, Kristen Pearl Tamiking, Bradley Donglay, Alexandria Dumanas, Gigie Anton, Jackson Limayog, Richard Bautista, and PFC Florentina Pascual (PA), among others.
