Pag-ulikid outreach serves 137,000

THE Iloilo City Government’s Pag-ulikid sang Syudad outreach program has served more than 100,000 Ilonggos and 144 barangays since the initiative started a year ago.

The Pag-ulikid Center recorded 137, 748 residents who availed themselves of and benefited from various social services in one year of implementation.

After a long Holy Week break, the outreach activities resumed in Barangays Bito-on and Tabuc Suba, Jaro on April 24; Balantang and Cuartero, Jaro on April 25; and Sto. Niño Sur and Calaparan, Arevalo on April 26.

Six more villages are scheduled for the visits next week.

Mayor Jose Espinosa III said Pag-ulikid or care is basically letting the people feel that the government is working hard for them to deliver the best programs and services available.

“We will continue to reach out and bring City Government services closer to our constituents in the barangays. We have to make sure that no Ilonggo will be left behind in this livable metropolis amid the fast-rising developments,” Espinosa said.

The frontline services include City Health Office’s free medical, dental, surgical services such as circumcision and warts extraction, pharmaceutical services, and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) counseling and testing.

The Office of Senior Citizens Affairs provides senior citizen ID registration or replacement.

The City Social Welfare and Development Office provides ID registrations and replacement for solo parent and Persons with Disabilities and free counseling.

The City Civil Registry Office processes and corrects issues and concerns in birth and marriage certificates and other related documents.

The City Veterinarian's Office conducts animal or pet consultation, dogs and cats’ castrations, and anti-rabies vaccination.

Also offered are free legal consultation and counseling, low load services, sports equipment, distribution of seeds and organic compost, and wheelchairs for elderly and PWDs. (PR)
