StoBoSa repainted

REPAINTING of the hillside homes artwork of sitios Stonehill, Botiwtiw and Sadjap (StoBoSa) in Benguet’s capital town of La Trinidad started Friday, April 26.

The repainting was led by Department of Tourism (DOT) Cordillera Administrative Region with DOT Tourism Promotions Board COO Marie Venus Tan, La Trinidad Mayor Romeo Salda, and StoBoSa community coordinator Gloria Agasen.

"This is a good opportunity again to refresh the paints of StoBoSa," said Tan.

Some 150 people from the tourism promotion board and the marketing promotions arm of the DOT took part in the activity.

In 2016, at least 180 houses became a canvas inspired by the Favelas of Brazil in a project collaboration with the DOT-Cordillera, artists of Tam-awan Village, Davies Paint, the La Trinidad Government and the Provincial Government of Benguet.

"It is now part of an itinerary it is a more popular destinations when people go to Baguio and La Trinidad. Refreshing as it will even provide better perspective of the community," she added.

Tan said the activity also seeks to provide the community empowerment.

She said the tourism board will also conduct more community outreach programs not only in Cordillera but also in the entire country.

"There are programs to be launched in the Cordillera but initially we are sustaining the programs that we have started," she added.

With the growing tourist destination, acceptance of donation continues for the maintenance of the StoBoSa. Recent additional developments in the tourist site include the installation of view deck by the local government unit of La Trinidad.

More developments are eyed for the hanging bridge and construction of restrooms in the area.
