PDP-Laban candidates dominate city council

COUNCILORS running under the local chapter of Partidong Demokratikong Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) ruling party dominated the poll survey released last week by the Xavier University’s Kinaadman: University Research Office (Kuro).

For District 1, PDP-Laban candidates stood out in the race for eight of the 16 seats in the city council. Of the 13 contenders with a statistical chance of winning, eight are from the ruling party, four from opposition party Padayon Pilipino, and only one from Partido Federal ng Pilipinas.

Among the PDP-Laban bets who made in the 1st to 7th list include Roger Abaday, Romeo Calizo, Dok Boboy Daba, Inday Dahino, George Goking, Zaldy Ocon, and Jay Pascual.

In the 8th to 13th spots are candidates from Padayon Pilipino Jose Peppe Abu, Ronald Acenas, Alden Bacal, Lordan Suan, Jundabs Yamut Daba of the PDP-Laban, and Manny Darimbang of the PFP.

For District 2, PDP-Laban bets again emerged as the top choice for Kagayanons.

In rank 1-7 were PDP-Laban candidates Edgar Cabanlas, Malou Gaane, Bong Lao, Ian Mark Nacaya, Eric Salcedo, and Padayon’s Jun Acenas and Ramon Tabor.

In rank 8-13 were Girlie Balaba and Suzette Daba of the PDP-Laban, Alexander Dacer and Leon Gan of the Padayon, and James Judith and Bebot Rodriguez of the Centrist Democratic Party.

A total of 49 candidates are gunning for the 16 coveted spots in the city council.

City Mayor Oscar Moreno, who is also the leading candidate for city mayor based on the survey, said the survey results suggested that their group can still attain the group objective of a sweep 11-0 win for each district.

Meanwhile, incumbent Representative (1st District) Rolando Uy remained the strongest contender in the congressional race with a voter preference of 66.1 percent, followed by Caesar Ian Acenas with 16.4 percent and GIl Banaag with 1.9 percent.

In District 2, Rufus Rodriguez emerged as the top choice, garnering a support of 59.2 percent of the registered voters, followed by Alam Lim with 19.4 percent and Roger Villazorda with 0.9 percent. (PJ Orias)
