Over 18,000 local, overseas jobs on offer at Labor Day job fairs in CV

MORE than 18,000 local and overseas jobs are being offered to interested job seekers by the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) 7 this Labor Day, May 1.

The job vacancies will be offered in four local and overseas job fairs that will be organized in different venues across the region, including Cebu, as part of the Dole 7’s observance of the 117th Labor Day celebration.

Salome Siaton, Dole 7 director, said a total of 18,889 local and overseas job vacancies will be offered to interested job seekers.

Of the 18,889 available jobs, 6,898 are local jobs, of which 2,000 are for customer service representatives, who are currently in demand.

Siaton said there are also 11,991 overseas job vacancies, of which 4,518 are designated for those interested to work as factory workers.

Skilled workers, nurses, cleaners and laborers are also in high demand outside the country.

“Although the May 1 job fairs would not be depicting a very comprehensive and holistic picture of what skills in Region 7 are actually needed by employers, because of them, we found out that of the in-demand jobs reflected, the common skill needed not only here but also outside the country is that of nurses,” Siaton said.

For registered nurses, there are 211 local vacancies and 3,251 international vacancies, particularly in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, Bahrain and Kuwait, available for interested applicants.

In Cebu, job fairs will be held at SM City Cebu, Cebu Provincial Capitol and at the Mandaue City Sports Complex.

Another job fair will be held at the Robinsons Place in Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental. (from HBL of SuperBalita Cebu/JKV)
