Dole: All set for 2-day Labor Day jobs fair

THE Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) will spearhead the conduct of a two-day Jobs Fair in Zamboanga City.

DOLE regional director Ofelia Domingo said the fair is part of the activities they have lined up in line with the celebration of this year’s Labor Day on May 1.

Domingo said the jobs fair will be conducted on May 1 to 2 starting 9 a.m. onwards at the KCC Mall de Zamboanga East Wing Atrium.

Domingo said that a total of 18,053 vacancies are up for grabs in the two-day jobs fair.

Domingo added 16,662 job vacancies are for overseas employment while the remaining 1,391 are for local placement.

She said the job fair will be joined by 10 overseas placement agencies and 24 local employment companies.

The conduct of the two-day job fair is in partnership with the Regional Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (RTIPC), Regional Coordinating Committee (RCC)-Zamboanga Peninsula and Zamboanga Economic Zone and Freeport Authority (Zamboecozone).

The Labor Day celebration is anchored on the theme “Pagpupugay sa Manggagawang Pilipino.”

Meanwhile, Domingo said the other activities they lined up include the Diskwento Fair, where merchants are able to display products offering discounts to the public and the Livelihood Fair, which will showcase products and services of DOLE’s livelihood beneficiaries, to include market encounter.
