SANTO TOMAS, Pampanga -- A supporter of re-electionist Mayor Johnny Sambo was allegedly mauled by former mayor Romeo “Ninong” Ronquillo and his three companions at the victim’s residence in Sitio Balangcas, Barangay San Matias on Saturday morning, April 27.

Victim Reynaldo Galang, 54, alleged that Ronquillo and his “aides”, whom he was not able to identify, came to his house at around 10:30 in the morning and immediately ganged up on him upon opening the door.

“Atsu ku keng kilub ming bale ngeni atin kinatuk. Kabuklat ning pasbul, i Ninong (Ronquillo) ampo retang atlu ng kayabe, sabi da palwal daku kanu kaybat penumbuk da naku angga ketang aguyud daku ketang libutad shop,” Galang narrated.

(I was in the house when somebody knocked at the door. When I opened it, it was Ninong Ronquillo and his three companions. They told me they will bring me out and then all of a sudden they punched me until they were able to bring me out in my shop.)

“Sabi ng Ninong e ku kanu makyalam kayi kanitang mikera na ku, pemaldak na ku,” Galang furthered. (Ninong Ronquillo told me that I should stop meddling and then when I was already lying down, he kicked me several times.)

Galang said that Ronquillo and his aides only stopped beating him when his wife and children came and started shouting in panic.

Asked what could be the reason behind the alleged attack of Ronquillo on him, Galang said he could only think of politics as their motive.

“Siguru keng pulitika mu ini kasi balu na supporter na kung Mayor Sambo,” Galang said. (I believe this is all about politics because he knows that I support Mayor Sambo.)

Ronquillo, a two-termer mayor of this town, is the husband of incumbent Vice Mayor Gloria “Ninang” Ronquillo who is seeking the mayoralty post against Sambo.

Galang, who immediately secured a medico legal report, sustained wounds and contusions on his head, hands and feet. He stressed that he will be filing appropriate charges against Ronquillo.

Police Major Jayson Constantino, town police chief, said Galang is yet to file a case against Ronquillo and three others since court is closed during weekends.

“Kahapon nagreport lang ang victim dito sa police station so gagawan namin iyon ng blotter report pero nasa biktima pa rin kung ipursue niya iyong kaso,” Constantino said.

Sun.Star Pampanga tried to reach Ronquillo and his wife Gloria through their cellphone numbers as of press time but failed.
