THE chief of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) is planning to file cyberlibel charges against the common-law wife of Eddie Basillote.

This after Basillote's live-in partner accused Police Colonel Royima Garma of allegedly threatening to kill her and her family if she refuses to take down the controversial viral video showing personnel from the Talamban Police Station mauling her partner and two others in a supposed anti-illegal drug operation.

In a press conference on Monday, April 29, Garma challenged Basillote's live-in partner to substantiate the serious allegations against her which is maligning her reputation as a police official.

“Sabi ko nga kagabi I will stop na ang pananahimik namin. I saw the interview kanina, pinakita sa akin and the woman was covering her face because she claim that she is scared. Okay, now siguraduhin nya ma prove nya ang allegation nya sa akin because I will be filing a case against her na," Garma said.

(Like I said last night, I will no longer be silent. I saw the interview earlier. It saw the woman was covering her face because she claims that she is scared. Okay, now she will have to be sure to prove her allegations against me because I will be filing a case against her.)

She also threatened to file charges against any person who would malign the reputation of the local police.

Garma believes the moves against her and her personnel are meant to prevent them from pursuing those who are really involved in illegal drugs.

She also believes that the viral CCTV video showing personnel from the Talamban Police Station mauling Basillote and two others will never be admitted as evidence in court.

“That CCTV footage has no evidentiary value. it’s pure "tsismis" and it will never stand in any court be it administrative or criminal," Garma said.

Garma also challenged Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña to be "brave enough" to face her and tell her off what he doesn't like of her handling of the CCPO.

Osmeña has been critical of Garma's leadership, claiming the CCPO director is being used by his political rivals to win the May 2019 midterm elections.

“Hay nako! That’s being cowardly, be brave enough, face me,” she added. (FROM AYB OF SUPERBALITA CEBU)
