Project Hue Color Scapes opens

KAGAY-ANONS are in for a colorful treat as SM City Cagayan de Oro and SM CDO Downtown Premier opened its Project Hue Color Scapes last weekend.

Project Hue Color Scapes, in partnership with Boysen, is an installation of vibrant displays and playful spaces that bring art and play in a fun and creative environment.

"Project Hue tickles your mood through colors that refresh your mall experience and energize your Instagram feed," Bernadette Flores, mall manager of SM City Cagayan de Oro, said.

Last Friday, April 26, SM City Cagayan de Oro officially opened Project Hue's Sugar Town, wherein children and kids at heart can play in its colorful ball pits or take pictures in its Instagrammable mood spaces.

For P150 children and adults will be able to play or swim in a pool of colorful balls and inflatables for 30 minutes, and P225 for a whole day.

The Sugar Town will run until May 31 and is open everyday to the public from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

At the event center of SM CDO Downtown Premier, on the other hand, has its mood rooms and vibrant murals, which was opened to the public last Saturday, April 27.

According to SM CDO Downtown Premier Mall manager Evangeline Ditona, the designs in the spaces and murals were created by Kagay-anon artists who adhere to the ideals of self-expression and purposeful creativity in the digital age.

Ajae Evangelista, one of the said artists, said the patterns and themes in the mood rooms of Project Hue are based on summer and Cagayan de Oro City. There's no similar design in every corners of the mood rooms.

"Project Hue, individuality through colors. We want something like that na lumabas yung personalities through different colors. Through different patterns, designs, colors, lumalabas yung individuality," Evangelista said.

The mood rooms and murals are designed to interact with the audiences and make Instagram selfies and groufies glamorous, he added.

"[Project Hue] is more about summer fun and we want to have a new experience na playing about colors so tying up with Boysen. Our, really, goal is to make shopping experience more experiential by injecting more fun and colorful installation," Mark Angel Torayno, group marketing manager of SM Mindanao, said.

If you can recall last year, the two SM malls in Cagayan de Oro City launched the Adventures on Ice at SM project featuring the Snow Playground at SM City Cagayan de Oro and the ice skating rink at SM CDO Downtown Premier.

Torayno said the Adventures on Ice at SM won two silver awards, Award for Innovation in Consumer Events and Award for Innovation Entertainment Events, in the 2019 Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards.

The Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards is an international business awards competition that are open to all organizations in the 29 nations of the Asia-Pacific region. The focus of the awards is on recognizing innovation in all its forms.

Torayno said they wanted to make the Project Hue Color Scapes their entry for the Stevie Awards, however, they have another in mind that they will be bringing in the international award.

"We have more activation and events that we are going to enter for the Stevie and other award-giving bodies," Torayno said.
