ZONTA Village of Barangay Tibungco in Davao City is seen to benefit from community facilities that were donated by non-government organizations (NGOs) spearheaded by the Library Renewal Project on April 27.

The NGOs donated a library, football field, and water system.

Waves for Water, a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of the oceans and freshwater, donated the water system to the community.

Waves for Water representative Carlo Delantar told SunStar Davao that the water system could provide clean water for the 151 households in the area. Around 5,000 liters will be provided for water storage and four filters which could provide a million gallons of clean water which could last five to seven years.

“Few months ago, Library Renewal Project came up to us and said we are doing a partnership in Davao for a project and then last month, we ended up doing ocular in the city and saw Tibungco and that is how we met Maharlika Development Institute and Football for Humanity. We did a multi-dimensional program where it hits education, sports, and civic well-being,” Delantar said during the launching of the projects.

The Library Renewal Project donated a library beside the football field project of Football for Humanity and Maharlika Sports Development Institute which cost around P800,000. Its area was provided by the University of Immaculate Concepcion.

“We are thought of football because for us, football is life. In this sport, engagement of children will be different because if you are in a team or in an environment with training, the child will develop in his health, empowerment and transformation, responsibility, accountability and discipline,” Maharlika Sports Development Institute head Edgar Te said.

Barangay Tibungco captain Merjade Calvo said the role of the people and the local government is to maintain and be responsible of the programs given to them.
