Pangan: Maintaining excellence in governance

THE Regional Assessment Team (RAT) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has conducted initial assessment activities on the local government of Mabalacat City on April 25, 2019 to provide and ascertain observance of the parameters toward the grant of the much-coveted Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) award.

It validates the compliance of the LGU to the stringent requirements of the SGLG award which the LGU of Mabalacat City may get for the third time to qualify as a Hall of Famer during the term of Mayor Crisostomo C. Garbo.

The core areas considered for the award are: financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection, peace and order, business

friendliness and competitiveness, environmental management and tourism, culture and the arts.

On hand to assist the RAT were: Rosan S. Paquia, ESQ, the CPDC head and concurrent City Administrator, Engr. Susan Santiago of the City Environment and Natural Resources, Dr. Mely P. Sotto, President of the Mabalacat City College, Jeffrey Santos, head of the CDRRMO and Mrs. Narce Paquia, Acting City Budget Officer.

The CPDC staff and other pertinent department heads were called upon to be ready to assist the Regional Assessment Team, the members of which are: Rainier Collado, Fernando Erese, Jr. and Ms. Melissa Nipal.

Rosan briefed the team on the compliance and observance of the LGU to the requirements of the SGLG and from the looks of things, it may get the award this year.

The LGU of Mabalacat City is always ready to comply and satisfy the requirements of the Seal of Good Local Governance award throughout the year and not only during the validation. Every department of the LGU is tasked to observe the stringent requirements of the award.
