Benefit dinner for underprivileged youth set

A NON-PROFIT organization is spearheading a benefit dinner for indigent youth set on April 30.

CAUSe, or the Citizen's Action for Underprivileged Students, is a non-profit organization with programs to ensure that Filipino youth living in poverty will be given the chance to go to school and benefit from public school system.

Dubbed as "Shindig 2019," the benefit dinner party is set on April 30 at the Cordillera Convention Center of Baguio Country Club.

"All proceeds of the event will be given to Cause's beneficiaries," said chair Eileen Borlaza.

Borlaza said at least 180 have confirmed to attend the dinner for a cause coming from Baguio City, Department of Education admin heads and community leaders, among others.

"It's a big celebration to formally launch CAUSe and to get civic-minded people together," she added.

CAUSe was created by alumni of Baguio City National High School and designed to rally members of the community investing in the next generation by providing subsistence to indigent youth. The group is volunteering in pooling services in funding the daily expenses of deserving students.

In December 2018, CAUSe conducted a soft launching and presentation role of the group. Present were alumnus of Baguio City National High School Batch 1994 with 13 Board of Trustees who started the group, creating a program to support financially challenged youth who have potential to be great students and leaders of the community.

"Paying it forward program" covers everyday meals, school uniform and necessities of the beneficiary. Responses were also made by the academe and the political sector.
