Experimental no parking along Harrison

THE Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) Traffic Management Bureau (TMB) has started the experimental implementation of the no parking for city-bound vehicles along Harrison Road.

Police Major Oliver Panabang, TMB head, said the experimental traffic scheme along Harrison Road was requested by engineering students of Saint Louis University.

“They created an experimental traffic scheme along Harrison Road, which has an Administrative Order 044 series of 2019, which would not allow parking from Baguio Patriotic School all the way towards Tiongsan Harrison, and if we would see an improvement on this traffic scheme, then we would not have difficulty in adopting this,” Panabang said.

Based on the experimental traffic scheme, all inbound vehicles starting from Patriotic School to Tiongsan area will not be allowed to park along the stretch of Harrison Road, which will be utilized for loading and unloading.

“For me, even if we do not have to conduct an experiment, it would still be better not to utilize have road side for parking for us to fully use the spaces for loading and unloading areas,” Panabang said.

Outbound vehicles coming from the Melvin Jones area will still be allowed to park since an existing ordinance allows for parking in the area.

“Drop off points have been placed in strategic areas along Harrison for the motorists to know and there is a probability that we may extend this until the opening of classes to know its effect during that time. We would like to implement thou a pick and go-drop and go system at designated areas since a limited time will only be given to motorists to drop and pick up their passengers,” Panabang added.
