THE earthquake swarm monitored off Surigao del Norte has continued as of Tuesday, April 30, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The agency cited two scenarios: the swarm would either wane in the next few days or culminate in a big earthquake.
In a statement Tuesday, Phivolcs advised residents of Surigao del Norte to “take preparedness measures and be guided by verified information.”
Phivolcs said the swarm started with a magnitude 5.5 earthquake at 1:26 p.m. on April 26. This has continued to generate small and moderate earthquakes
