Daanbantayan rider rules Mondigo invitational

CEBU’S decorated rider BJ Pepito of BP8 Racing bagged two titles in the 2019 Mayor Joven Mondigo Invitational Motocross in Medellin, Cebu last Sunday, April 28.

The Daanbantayan, Cebu-native ruled the pro open and expert divisions, beating the best riders across the country.

The 17-year-old Pepito outsmarted the equally tough Denmark Supatan for the top spot in both categories. PJ Galia settled for third in the expert battle, while Earlun Codiniera placed third in the pro open.

“It has always been my goal to win a double championship. I’m glad I have achieved it this time,” said Pepito, who came one title short of that goal in the 21st Calambua Motocross Cup in San Remigio a few weeks ago.

PJ Galia, Deolito Codiniera, Renren Hisoler and Jeanette Olanda also pulled off a twinkill in their respective divisions.

Galia dominated both the intermediate and the beginners open to make up for his third place finish in the expert class. Galia was trailed by Erthron Codiniera and Supatan in the intermediate, while Brylle Ornopia and Tommy Largosa occupied the next two spots in the beginners open.

Codiniera topped the elite category and the executive C, Hisoler lorded it over in the open enduro and in the novice open class, while Olanda snared the ladies crown and the mini class 50cc.

In the other divisions, John Hisoler took home the champion’s trophy in the local enduro, Britz Hisoler ruled the executive B, Seigfred Ornopia was the fastest in the executive A, Terence Codiniera ruled the mini class 65cc and Carlo Comendador won the mini class 85cc.

The rest of the top three winners were Rey Tigue, Rex Pepito and Joel Maquilan in the buggy and Jomar Villaban, Junmar Agcoy and Raymart Peligro in the underbone race.
