A SANGGUNIANG Kabataan (SK) official from Barangay Malubog, Cebu City was hurt after he was hit by a motorcycle while crossing the street towards a public beach in Barangay Tajao, Pinamungajan, Southern Cebu on Tuesday afternoon, April 30.

Kim Del Mar, 21, was supposed to join his fellow SK councilors for a dip at the Bugsay Public Beach in Pinamungajan when upon crossing the highway, he was suddenly hit by a speeding motorcycle driven by Rommel Dakay at around 1 p.m. on Tuesday.

Patrolman Nathaniel Mansueto of the Pinamungajan Police Station told SunStar Cebu that Dakay, a resident of Barangay Bato in Toledo City, was driving his motorcycle home when he accidentally hit Del Mar.

Both Dakay and Del Mar sustained head injuries and were immediately brought by emergency responders to a nearby hospital, Mansueto added.

Separately, Cebu City SK president Jessica Resch told SunStar Cebu that Del Mar was in Pinamungajan along with other SK officials from Cebu City for a two-day SK Summer Camp at the Pinamungajan National High School.

Though they were able to conclude the activity at around 12 noon on Tuesday, some SK officials like Del Mar opted to stay for a while at the town to enjoy the beach, Resch said.

Luckily, the SK Federation of Cebu City were able to bring along an emergency responder and an ambulance to bring Del Mar to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) for immediate medical attention. (JKV/ Alan Tangcawan)
