NEGROS Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. will present the province's potential as a tourism and investment destination during the two-day Regional Australia-Asia Chambers Forum being held in Darwin City, Northern Territory in Australia.
Marañon is one of the speakers on the topic "Financial and Asian Regional Development Session" during the opening day Thursday, May 2.
Cristine Mansinares, provincial supervising tourism operations officer, said Negros Occidental is one of the featured provinces during the forum because of its successful engagement with the Northern Territory Government.
Mansinares, who is also in Northern Territory for a Business Engagement Program as part of the Arafura Games 2019, said the governor will also be sharing such engagement between the two provinces.
"One of the gains is building awareness on Negros Occidental as a progressive province in the Philippines and to showcase our successful international engagement program not only with Northern Territory stakeholders but to other participating countries as well," she added.
Hosted by the Chamber of Commerce Northern Territory, the forum is gathering senior representatives from Chambers of Commerce within Australia and across the Asian Region including Philippines, Cambodia, China, Guam, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Timor Leste, and Vietnam.
It aims to discuss key issues facing the growth of business in the region.
"Through this event, we can also expand our partnership in other areas including tourism and sustaining what we currently have such as trade and investment, education, agriculture, and employment and migration," Mansinares said.
