E.B. Magalona fiesta peaceful

DESPITE the request that E.B. Magalona be placed under Commission on Elections (Comelec) control, the town fiesta ended peacefully on Wednesday, May 1.

E.B. Magalona reelectionist Mayor Marvin Malacon said that incumbent provincial officials attended the highlight of the fiesta Wednesday led by Third District Rep. Alfredo Benitez, Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Abang Lingkod Party-list Rep. Stephen Paduano.

The fiesta was also well attended by the people of E.B. Magalona from its 23 barangays, Malacon said.

“Is this what they’re portraying that the town be put under Comelec control? We are peaceful here,” Malacon said.

He also assured that any violence related to the election will not come from their camp. “I don’t employ violence ever since I joined politics and the people of asa aria are aware of that”, Malacon said.

On the part of his opponent, Board Member David Albert Lacson appealed to Malacon not to tolerate any untoward acts of his supporters.

“As incumbent, he should not tolerate, although I know he did not order such acts. But he should give assurance as chief executive but he failed to do it up to this time,” Lacson said.

He said that it’s up to Comelec, the PNP and the Army to decide on their request to put the town under Comelec control. “At least we informed them of what is happening here and we are hoping that before the May 13 elections they would act on it.

Malacon, meanwhile, said that based on the latest survey conducted by a private firm commissioned by Benitez, he and his team are leading and will win the May 13 elections.

Lacson said that he leaves it to the people to decide for themselves on May 13.

“It’s up to the people. I cannot preempt. We will accept the turnout of the elections,” Lacson added. (TDE)
