2 gun ban violators nabbed

TWO individuals were arrested for illegal possession of firearms which is a violation of the ongoing Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban in Sitio Binocauan, Barangay Manlucahoc, Sipalay City, April 30.

According to the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office, arrested were identified as Francisco Gepanaga, 35, and Gino Panaligan, 19, both residents of the barangay.

Recovered from their possession were one unit of .45 caliber pistol with six live ammunitions, and one unit of .38 caliber pistol loaded with six ammunitions.

Cases for violation of Republic Act 10591 and violation of Comelec gun ban are set to be filed against the suspects.

It can be recalled that Philippine National Police Chief Oscar Albayalde ordered the police force to strictly implement the gun ban in their respective areas apart from intensifying their focused law enforcement operations to dismantle partisan armed groups, neutralize gun-for-hire syndicates and account for more loose firearms.
