5 Cebu Capitol department heads worth millions

WITH assets including real properties, businesses, investments and cash, five out of 20 Provincial Capitol department heads are worth over P1 million, based on their 2018 statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN).

Provincial General Services Office (PGSO) Chief Jone Siegfred Sepe leads the list of richest Capitol department heads, with a net worth of P9.25 million and zero liabilities.

Sepe declared P4.84 million worth of real properties covering four residential lots, two agricultural lots and a memorial lot.

Aside from this, the PGSO chief also reported P4.41 million worth of personal properties which include furniture, jewelry, cash, appliances, two motorcycles, a multicab and two cars.

Sepe also owns a Montessori school, farm and a logistics company in Bohol.

The second richest Capitol department head is Provincial Administrator Mark Tolentino with a net worth of P5.16 million.

In his SALN, Tolentino declared a house and lot with a market value of P7 million as his lone real property, and a 2014 Toyota Fortuner worth P800,000 as his sole personal property.

He reported liabilities worth P2.63 million covering bank loans.

Tolentino is a shareholder in four private firms in Cebu City.

Third on the list is Provincial Information Technology Officer Marie Jeanette Saluba with P5.05 million in assets and no liabilities.

Saluba owns residential properties worth P1.69 million, and personal properties such as appliances, cash and a car worth P3.35 million.

Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (Penro) Chief Rodel Bontuyan declared the fourth biggest net worth at P3.8 million. He reported P270,000 worth of real properties covering an agricultural lot and two house-and-lot units.

He also declared motorcycles, furniture, cash and investments, and jewelry worth P4.92 million.

The Penro head has liabilities amounting to P1.39 million, including loans and cash advances from various creditors.

Bontuyan operates a chain of restaurants in Cebu City.

Fifth on the list is Sangguniang Panlalawigan Secretary lawyer Pulchra Marie Acevedo with a net worth of P3.58 million.

Her total assets worth P7.69 million include a house and lot, four agricultural lots, law books, clothes, appliances, jewelry, cars and bank deposits.

Acevedo declared liabilities amounting to P4.1 million covering credit card payables, and consolidated, housing and car loans.

Meanwhile, Provincial Veterinarian Mary Rose Vincoy reported the lowest net worth at P479,890.

She declared assets worth P1.8 million covering appliances, cash, furniture, jewelry, a motorcycle and various items.

Vincoy’s liabilities amounting to P1.35 million include various loans from government agencies and a car loan.

Cebu Provincial Investment and Promotions Office Head Floreza Alpuerto also reported a net worth of less than P1 million.

She declared total assets worth P3.17 million covering a house and lot, car, savings and appliances.

Her liabilities placed at P2.55 million include housing and auto loans.
